Dave Morris Q&A

Started angling at the tender age of 11, basically as something to do in summer holidays, before starting secondary school. Usually short sessions on the River Medway in Kent, or on the Piers at Dover whilst family were visiting relations!

Completed my coaching qualification with the Professional Anglers Association in June 2000 & upgraded to First4Sport Level 2 in 2004.

Worked part time in an angling shop & was always being asked for help & advice, so thought I’d put my knowledge & experience over many years to good use.

Although I have subsequently moved, to both live & work in France, I still return for a couple of Sea coaching sessions in Sussex. I also attempt to make the Go Fishing show at the NEC, where the PAA run the coaching sessions on Pendigo lake.  Most of my coaching is now on campsites in the Vendée, & on my own lakes in Deux-Sevres, France.

My favourite sea fishing areas are around the Kent & Sussex coasts. My favourite coarse fishery would have to be ‘Lac la Croix Blanche’ – my own fishery in France.

Favoured sea species are Cod, now an ever diminishing rersource, & in freshwater, Tench & Perch. I tend to prefer Carp in their original wild strains.

A peaceful session with float & centrepin reel would be my number one!

I have been a member & club official at several UK angling clubs, but the one that I feel I had most influence on, by almost trebling the number of angling members, during my spell as Angling chairman, would have to be ‘Hove Deep Sea Anglers’

In my own humble opinion, I feel that there are far too many websites springing up which frankly do very little for angling in general. If I were to pick one, apart from my own www.honfleurinternational.co.uk  , it would have to be this site  www.allthingspiscatorial.com  .  It has done more for promoting angling & coaching than most of the other sites put together!
