Fisherman's Blues at Birds Green

Arrived early to find the lake we were to fish - The Match Lake' the water level was well down, but had been fishing well, while I was taking a look to see if fish were showing, I had a call from a guy call Steve 'Just listened to Keith Arthur's program, it sounded great and called to see if you had any spaces free!I informed him that it was open to all and we would be pleased to meet him, I was greeted with 'Great - see you in about half an hour'.

I had just put the phone down and opened up the car to get my gear out when it rang again ' Hi there its Laura's dad, we met at Hatfield Forest. We have all just listened to Keith Arthur’s program and she is demanding we all come over, is it all right and can you give some directions.

This blew me away as we have never had this sort of reception before but you can guess it really makes our efforts all that much more worthwhile.

Firstly Derek Potter and then Roger Edwards were given the job of trying to answer all of her questions this time, but before answering she was

quoting you (Steve Gray) chapter and verse, this little lady is going to go far, so much enthusiasm for someone so young.

The fishing indeed turned out to be great with everyone catching and most catching quality Carp and Tench, the management continually came round to ensure everyone was enjoying themselves and rightly showed that they were proud of the fishery. The EA did the business of booking people in and bringing them to the coaches and introducing everyone, plus handing out the usual goodies.
